Family Day =)

Shopping day, again.

My dad’s off-day today. So, the whole family of mine decided to go to sungei wang to do some shopping. A lot of ppl there today, perhaps due to the countdown event which will kick-off later.

We had our lunch at SUPER NOODLE HOUSE. Frankly speaking, the foods they served became progressively sucked! After that, we did some shopping… to be more precise, it was my mom and my sis were shopping while my dad and I were waiting. Nvm, we still managed to see some break-dance performance at that meanwhile.

My mom looked so desperate to visit my sis’s bf working place. Lucky him, he was safe at that moment as he went out for his break… haha.
At last, we headed home after we bought something from Watson, particularly something to dye my hair as some frens of mine complained that I have many white hairs. Fine, I’m going to cover it up. Hehe.

New Item (30th Dec)

I went one utama (1u) today with my sis and my cousin bro. holy shit… it was so damn hard for us to ‘secure’ a car park there. And the ppl there were all like barbarians competing for the foods (car parks). We searched for more than half an hour before we can actually find a parking lot.

Well, the main purpose of we getting there was because my sis wan to get a new sling bag, as a symbol for her new life at university. And I managed to get a cap from TROPICANA LIFE for myself. It costs me around 30bucks after discount. Hmm… still considered affordable to me. The design is actually similar to julian’s sling bag. Seriously, julian’s sling bag looks very nice.

After we got what we wanted, we went to the food court, ordered TAKO TAO (kind of Japanese food) and back to cheras at around 10pm.

What Love About?

well, i adapted it from a blog of yew chan... the content is quite true and meaningful. have a look. =)

I once had a friend who grew to be very close to me. Once when we were sitting at the edge of a swimming pool, she filled the palm of her hand with some water and held it before me, and said this: "You see this water carefully contained on my hand? It symbolizes Love."

This was how I saw it: "As long as you keep your hand caringly open and allow it to remain there, it will always be there. However, if you attempt to close your fingers round it and try to posses it, it will spill through the first cracks it finds. This is the greatest mistake that people do when they meet love...they try to posses it, they demand, they expect... and just like the water spilling out of your hand, love will retrieve from you.

For love is meant to be free, you cannot change its nature. If there are people you love, allow them to be free beings. Give and don't expect. Advise, but don't order. Ask, but never demand. It might sound simple, but it is a lesson that may take a lifetime to truly practice. It is the secret to true love.

To truly practice it, you must sincerely feel no expectations from those who you love, and yet an unconditional caring." Passing thought... Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take; but by the moments that take our breath away ..

-Author Unknown-

comment from me:
For guys and gals out there... just don be too possessive to your better halves or they will run away, perhaps.

Pharmacists are more than just purveyors of medicines!

A write-up from KP (a pharmacist, i suppose)...

KP wrote:
The abuse of steroids and antibiotics is a major problem in Malaysia and in many developed countries. It is funny how doctors can point finger at us when the usage of antibiotics and steroid in community pharmacies (as I believe Dr. Raj is refering to) is so limited. In my place, one bottle of Ampicillin 250mg, which is one of only three antibiotics that I keep in my pharmacy can last for about 3 years, whereas a clinic which have a monthly turnover less than a quarter of mine can finish it within 2 weeks.

Whenever a patient goes to a clinic about fever, cough or cold, they leave the clinci later with a plastic bag of antibiotics, antipyretics and antitussives. Logically speaking (rather than lawfully speaking), why refer a patient to a clinic when we know that the only thing that will happen is the doctor taking a stethoscope, putting it on the chest for a few seconds (obviously trying to hear if the cough is productive or non productive), taking the temperature and then giving the antibiotics. Wouldn't it be the same as giving the antibiotic in the pharmacy instead ? Who cannot take a temperature nowadays ?

As a health professional, it would not be righteous to refer the patient to another whom you believe will "abuse" medication. Just because they are doctors and have prescribing rights does not mean that they can abuse it! In fact many of them actually encourage the use of group B poison whenever possible just because lawfully, it is not right for pharmacists to dispense them and without giving out a prescription, it will be more beneficial business wise for them.

Comment from MPS:
It is therefore important that pharmacists must uphold professionalism and avoid being criticized for not dong their job properly. Meanwhile, let us ride on whatever weakness that GPs have shown and hope some day survey reports will further reveal the weak GP system and pharmacists be giving better recognition. Be patient, we should be there in due course

Comment from me:
well, what I can comment is pharmacists are very important in healthcare field too. They are no longer “second class” behind the doctors nowadays. Doctors and pharmacists play equally vital role, and they are synergistic in the nature of their jobs. Doctors are experts in diagnosing and surgery, and pharmacists are experts in drugs. Pharmacists are the one who formulate and manufacture the drugs (one of their main jobs) which are to be prescribed by the doctors for particular conditions. Formulating science (pharmaceutics) is not something easy…

Try to think... what doctors are without the pharmacists (and vice versa)? And if doctors can do pharmacists’ job then what’s the point of the government wants to have more pharmacists? Isn’t it will be better if everyone becomes a doctor instead of a pharmacist? For your information, we are still lacking of both doctors and pharmacists…

Anyway have u seen anyone act as a pharmacist in a movie or drama? NO, I think. This makes a lot of ppl don’t know what pharmacists are… HOW PATHETIC!

Article from MPS

The Department of Health has announced that pharmacists are to be given the right to prescribe any licensed medicine for any condition (except Controlled Drugs), ie anything in the BNF. This move is for the patient to benefit from quicker and more accessible services and also for the Department to use the skills and professionalism of pharmacists to the full.

On the other hand, members from the British Medical Association are voicing their disapproval over this move.

However pharmacists are already working as independent prescribers whenever they respond to customer needs with pharmacy-only items. It is a joint diagnosis basing on the symptoms put forward by the patient. Pharmacists would not, at this moment or perform make any diagnosis. Doctors are the trained diagnosticians, but they are poor in therapeutics. It is generally well-known among hospital pharmacists that junior doctors are really not safe to be prescribing for the unsuspecting public.

The point is clear: The belief that doctors know more about medicines than pharmacists is indefensible.

Belated B’day Present (26th Dec)

Hehe... I got this phone as my belated b’day and x’mas present from the PJ gang. Thanks so much guys and gals… thanks to dan, chris, zw, kh, and others who I forgot to mention. Thanks so much for it.

I liked the phone very much, except for the part where the phone has limited internal memory, 23MB only. Can’t save many files due to this limitation. =(

nokia 6111

Overall, I would rate this phone 8.5 over 10.

Going back to hometown (25th Dec)

Hey, Merry Christmas to everyone out there. How u spent this special day?

Well, i went back to kampar yesterday with my family to attend my relative’s wedding dinner… we departed from cheras at around 1pm and reached mambang diawan, kampar at around 3pm. U guys know what? I was the one who drove all the way from KL to kampar. And it felt so nice driving my mom’s Picasso. Hehe. I speeded at 130km/h but it felt like 30km/h. Not bad not bad.

my breakfast: mango cake from BreadStory & Horlicks

The dinner started at around 6.30pm… the dishes there were quite nice and really worth the price. Here’s a photo which I managed to snap during the wedding dinner.

At first we planned to have supper at “Yew Chai Lou Hsu Fen”, it serves one of my favorite foods there. but at last we ended up watching the grand final of SUPERSTAR at my aunt’s place. Wow, Kelly was doing great but too bad she lost. Kelvin was doing not bad too. But frankly, I’d prefer Kelly to be the champion. Hehe… Anyway I’m very impressed of Kelvin’s performances, so touching!

my sis, my dearest mom, and i...

The next day, after we “na sam jiu” (which means visiting the bride’s room) in the early morning, we back to KL in the afternoon...

The Sorbet Story

Guess what? I discovered something which is worth to buy and taste. Yup, it’s called “The sorbet story”. Previously I used to buy the mango sorbet from haagen dazs, but frankly it’s too expensive, around 28 bucks per pint. “the sorbet story” only costs 5 to 6 bucks per pint. ya, I do agree that the taste of the mango sorbet from haagen dazs is more ‘concentrated’ than the sorbet story. But… the taste of both sorbets is more or less the same. So it’s worth for u to try it out.

Happy 21st B’day, Siva! (17th Dec)

17th Dec 2005, was such a big day to Siva, my secondary school classmate’s 21st bday… to be more precise, we were in the same class from form 2 all the way to form 5 if I’m not mistaken.

I got his sms few days ago, inviting us to his birthday party. So I started sms everyone I know. But at last, only kit mei, ying ni, yong kwan, chan hoe, and I going for his B’day party.

After fetching ying ni and chan hoe, we finally got there at around 8.15pm (it started at 7.30pm) without the presents! Those presents were with kit mei and yong kwan that time… it was really very very very crowded, “people mountain people sea”. And I met a lot of old friends over there… kun jin, jaga, sarawanan, “batman”, and etc… we talked and “updated” with each other.

outside siva's house... CROWDED!

"makan" and "minum"...

me, yk, yn, jaga, km, siva, sara, (i forgot his name), kj, fionna

me, ch, jaga, fionna

jaga and kit mei

me, "ah ji" (kit mei), and chan hoe

loving couple... yn and yk

U guys know what, kun jin is now working… as a lab technician at UM Hospital. According to her, she just started to work few months ago, and she needs to work for around 5 years because she has “bonded” to the contract. well, she now owns a car and able to “generate” money by herself. I do think it’s a good thing, not like us who are now “degenerating” money for our studies… haha.

We left there at around 11.45pm, after that chan hoe and I went to the pandan mewah’s Mc’D to yum char. we talked on a lot of things. Hmm… seriously, chan hoe has became more and more matured every time I see him. It’s a good thing though. And hoe, I do agree with u, we need to plan for the sake of our future. THINK BIG…

We chatted there until 1.30am, then I headed to home straight away after I sent hoe back.

NEW Umbrella… (16th Dec)

Today I went to leisure mall with my mom and sis for lunch. I got this umbrella from BALENO for FREE… (my mom paid for it... hehe). After we paid, then only I realized that umbrella costs 25bucks… blood-sucking, too late to regret now. Anyway the umbrella is really nice with a very light weight. Hmm, it makes a good reason for me to bring my umbrella along next time. hehe…

Nokia 6111 or Sony Ericsson w550i?

Today my nokia 6600 turned off automatically… AGAIN!!! This is because my phone has been ‘infected’ by the virus few months back when i tried to download an application using WAP/ GPRS.

The name of the virus is [YUAN], I supposed. That is the name displayed on my phone. There’s no way to shut down the virus in whatever ways, however it will shut down by itself within 24 hours… weird. The virus then will be ‘activated’ again when I switch on my phone everytime… for that reason, I don dare to turn off my phone if the situation allows. The main mode of attack of the virus is… it will exhaust your battery very fast, and make the phone to turn off suddenly, so that the virus can be ‘activated’ again when u switch on the phone… sigh.

So I’m thinking of getting myself a new hand phone… hmm, maybe as a present for myself for what-so-ever reason(s). hehe... but my wallet is going to bleed… sigh. Anyway there are 2 models which caught my attention, they are nokia 6111 and SE w550i. well, actually I’m addicted to nokia N70 recently… but due to limited budget, u know? Sigh…

Frankly speaking, it’s really hard for me to choose between these 2. I like the design, backlight, the slide-phone concept of nokia 6111. on the other hand, I like the internal memory, functions, and the swivel-phone concept of SE w550i… so it’s really hard to choose. For your information, SE w550i is slightly more expensive than nokia 6111. So… what do u think?

Just For Laughs... LOL

well, i found this in one of the forwarded mails... have a look. quite funny. =)

I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK !!!
Muthu was sitting in class doing math problems when his teacher picked him to answer a question, Muthu, if there were five birds sitting on a fence and you hit one with your catapult, how many would be left?"
"None," replied Muthu, "cause the rest would fly away."
"Well, the answer is four," said the teacher, "but I like the way you're thinking."
Muthu then says, "I have a question for you, teacher. If there were three women eating ice cream cones in a shop, one was licking her cone, the second was biting her cone and the third was sucking her cone, which one is married?"
"Well," said the teacher nervously, "I.....I guess..... the one sucking the cone ?"
"No teacher," said Muthu, "the one with the wedding ring on her finger, but I like the way you're thinking too !"

NEW WATCH
While in the playground with his friend, Little Johnny noticed that Jimmy was wearing a brand new, shiny watch.
"Did you get that for your birthday?" asked Little Johnny.
"Nope." replied Jimmy.
"Well, did you get it for Christmas then?".
Again Jimmy says "Nope."
"You didn't steal it, did you?" asks Little Johnny.
"No," said Jimmy. "I went into Mom and Dad's bedroom the other night when they were 'doing the nasty'. Dad gave me his watch to get rid of me.
Little Johnny was extremely impressed with this idea, and extremely jealous of Jimmy's new watch. He vowed to get one for himself. That night, he waited outside his parents' bedroom until he heard the unmistakable noises of lovemaking. Just then, he swung the door wide open and boldly strode into the bedroom.
His father, caught in mid stroke, turned and said angrily. "What do you want now?"
"I wanna watch," Johnny replied.
Without missing a stroke, his father said, "Fine. Stand in the corner and watch, but keep quiet."

VARIANT OF AN OLD JOKE
A boss walked into the office one morning not knowing that his zipper is down, and his fly wide open. His secretary walked up to him and said,
"Boss this morning when you left your house, did you close your garage door?"
This is not a phrase that her boss understood, so he went into his office looking a bit puzzled. When he was about done with his paper work, he suddenly notices that his zipper was not zipped up. He zipped up and remembering what his secretary had told him, finally understood.
He then intentionally went out to ask a cup of coffee from his secretary. He was planning to have a little fun with her. When he reached her desk, he said,
"When you saw garage door open did you see my jaguar park in there?"
The secretary smiles for a moment and said,
"No, Boss I didn't. All I saw was a Mini with 2 flat tyres."

Summary: Big News

The first thing that I considered big is, I finally turned 21 on 12th nov 2005. but sad to say that I was in the exam blues that time and I was studying like hell during the study break as my final exam started 14th nov, with 7 papers need to sit for. Seriously I really had no mood to celebrate my bday that time… pathetic!

Anyway, I would like to thank to my dad, mom, sis, fui, chan hoe, suet wei, ben, dan, li guo, yen wei, chia whey, zhi yang, and others for remembering my bday. Thanks for the presents, cards, cakes, sms, messages, and so on…

"Ang Pow" from dad and mom.
Sony T-7 digital camera from mom.
A sling bag from dad.
A slice of 'Tiramisu' cake, from secret recipe.
A shirt from SEED, from ch, sw and ben.
A 'slap-to-tell-the-time' clock, from lg, yw, cw, and zy.

The second thing that I wan to share is, yup, i PASSED my sem3! I got my result on 9th dec from AAD, IMU. due to severe anxiety, I took 2mg of lorazepam at the nite before to help me to sleep. Thanks god, I finally passed, and I finally can enjoy my holidays (for 3 weeks) before starting the most terrible sem4 (as claimed by Dr. Kang) on January.

page 1/2
page 2/2

well, i'm not going to reveal my results here, i think no one does right? anyway i'm satisfied with my result, at least my result are better than what i expected. and the most important afterall, i PASSED! that's one of greatest gifts for my bday.

I feel sorry to hear that some of my classmates failed in subjects like Drug Metabolism, Renal System, and Extemporaneous Dispensing. Extemporaneous Dispensing is really a killing-subject, if u did something wrong on the calculation, read the prescription/ instructions/ source formula wrongly, or your product are of poor quality... then u might get a total zero for that particular product. I heard that there was 12 ppl failed in that particular subject. Terrible module right?

By the way, I wish u guys all the best in the resit, and we are going to see each other in sem4…

finally... DONE (partially)!

After been sitting in front of my laptop for hours... i finally able to figure out how to edit those HTML codes in my blog. anyway, the thing i know is very very very limited actually, i need to figure out how to edit my own template next time. i believed it's going to be a very difficult task for me. anyway, at least i have done with chatterbox, and etc...

hmm, i think i have missed in action (MIA) for few months. this is because i donno how to edit those HTML things that time, and most important of all is that i didnt have time to do so during that time. Sem3 was like hell... ask anyone in the BPharm. well, i think i'll post something summarising the "big news" lately.

not to deny, i'm an idiot in those computer-related stuffs... and i really getting fed up by the streamyx installation things... i've called the helpline for more than 5 times, and yet no one is sent to help me to fix the thing. u guys know what, that number is not a toll-free one. my phone credits just wasted like that. one of my best frens, fui who i considered as a computer expert, has came all the way from subang to help me fix the things last week. but still, i cant connect using the line i register. darn them. anyway, thanks a lot fui...

hopefully the line i registered will have the signal soon... sigh.
