When someone tells you that you can't do anything...

(From: Yin Yin)

Look around.

Consider all options available.

Then GO FOR IT!

Use all the capabilites that God has gave you.

And be CREATIVE.

At the end, you will succeed and prove them wrong.

Always remember: Where there is a will, there is a way!

Yum char session with FJ. (25th August)

CH and FJ. It was quite dark.

Great yum char session with CH and FJ at Quan Coffee Shop. We stayed there from 9pm to 12pm. Here are some news:

FJ is going back Russia on 2nd September 2006. Safe journey and all the best in your year 3. We all will be missing you... =)

A visit to UPM Veterinary Hospital. (23rd August)

We had a PBL session for CNS module in the early morning. And guess what? I was late again (blame the traffic jam). Luckily, Dr. Soh didn’t blame me for that. I went to library to search the information for the PBL during the long gap, after having breakfast with PH, YW and ZY.

Back to the main topic, we (those who chose Veterinary Pharmacy as selective) went to UPM for a visit for which we need to submit a report at a later time. Shit! I hate writing report...

Nothing much to write and here are some photos for you!

Outside the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
EL, Cathy, SY, SK, May, Julian, CY, Jivan, CK, YN, ZY, Jojo, Kogi, KL, PH, SL, me and YW. (Pipi and Hala were not there)

Julian, PH, YW and me.

Dr. Yap (the one in the middle), he is the module coordinator for Veterinary Pharmacy.

We can have the coffee and kuih during the briefing. Cool!

The smallest pharmacy ever! Why CK looked so shocked?

Poor dog. It is on chemotherapy due to the tumor on its back.

What are they doing?

This is for artificial semination if I’m not mistaken.

Endocrine System: Insulin Devices Practical. (21st August)

Well, the best part of this practical was that we got the insulin devices (placebo) for FREE!!! Never regret of going IMU today. Ha-ha…

The disposable needle, NovoLet (placebo), FlexPen (placebo), and the vials for NovoPen 3.

We learned about the rationale of treatment for diabetes, different pharmacokinetic profiles of different types of insulin, and also the different insulin devices that are available in the market. For your information, the main reason to have so many types of insulin devices is just to improve the patient’s compliance, in order to prevent further complications.

Not forgetting to prick our abdomen (whole class was doing that!) with the silicon-coated hair-like needle. Well, I would say it was almost painless, not a bad experience. I will be able to show more empathy when dealing with my patients next time… At least I can tell them “It is not painful lah, I tried it before. Trust me!”

Someone said: “You will not know how the patient feels unless you are doing the same thing as him or her!”, I agreed.

GREAT time spent with great BUDDIES! (19th August)

A great moment spending time with them!!! It has been a long (long) time we didn’t really hang out together as everyone of us are EXTREMELY busy with our life. But too bad, CF didn’t turn up at last and FJ was not here.

We had dinner at Tsim Tung Restaurant at around 7.30pm. The atmosphere there was great and the lighting there was just nice.

The menu.

The atmosphere.

MJ and Ben.

YC and CH.

Me and MJ.

Soybean sauce chicken wings with egg (can’t remember the name). Not too bad… But CH kept complaining on the set he ordered (in the photo).

The present for MJ's belated b'day- a very high-tech multipurpose pen. They spent quite a lot of time on figuring how the pen actually works.

Well, we spent 3 hours at the restaurant itself, updating each other with our latest news, and chit-chatting on various topics:

After the dinner session, we went to Mid Valley Megamall for movie at 11.30pm. I can’t really remember when was the last time we watched a movie together. Anyway, I treasured the moment! I mean it.

The crowd. It is not hard to spot MJ and Ben in the photo.

We watched MONSTER HOUSE, not a bad movie. I found it was quite nice to watch, except for the ending part which was too overstated. I know, it was just an animation after all... I rate it 7.5 over 10.

Ben and his car?

MJ and YC, at the car park.

I reached home at 3am in the morning, feeling tired and “fainted”!

Yup, MJ is going back to Russia soon, and it will be a one-year time to meet him again. My dear friend, safe journey and good luck in your year 3. We all will be missing you! (Feel so touched?) ha-ha. =)

Something to share: Think Outside of the Box...

You are driving along your car on a wild, stormy night, it's raining heavily, when suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for a bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there could only be one passenger in your car?

Think before you continue reading!

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

* You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first;

* or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect hence to pay him back.

* However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer.

His answer:
"I would give the car keys to my Old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams."

Moral of the story:
Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations... and begin to "Think Outside of the Box"!

Pharmaceutics class test & Jolin’s Meet-The Fans event… (14th August)

I’m quite busy lately. And this explained why I didn’t update so frequent. Well, I sat for Pharmaceutics IV class test yesterday. I thought I did quite well for the first SAQ regarding the release kinetics of drug delivery system (as I memorized all the release models, the graphs, the formula and …) BUT when Dr. Pillapan discussed the model answer with us during the feedback session… SHIT! I guess I can hardly score well for that question as the things I wrote was not really similar with the model answers. Sigh…

After the feedback session, LG, ZY, YW and I went to OUG plaza to have our brunch as we had a long gap that day (before attending for CNS and Management lectures at 2.45pm). We had brunch at “Xi Men Ding”, HP brought us there last time.

10 bucks for a bowl of rice, fish, soup, honey green tea and dessert! Not bad…

Went back to have the CNS lectures on opioid analgesics for 2 hours. The only thing I can remember was there are 3 main types of opioid receptors in our body (or am I wrong?). To be precise, I was day-dreaming, talking non-stop with ZY during the CNS lectures as I got TOTALLY lost. This explained why we were so free taking photos.

CW a.k.a. Shawn-san, is a "hardcore" fan of Shawn Yue.

Me and ZY. He kept telling me that my face became more and more chubby. Yup, I have accepted the fact! Any ways to “slim down” my face?

My class during the short break before the Management lecture. Yup, I would like to thank Ms. Wong Hooi Fen a million times for her kind deed for giving us the floor plan of Watson at cheras Leisure Mall. Our group plan to set up our pharmacy there (for the Management project).

Guess where we went after the lecture at 6.15pm? The answer is… The Mines for Jolin’s Meet-The-Fans event. We went there solely because YW was so desperate to meet his so-called girlfriend- JOLIN. *ermm… clearing throat*. He (together with LG and ZY) even bought Jolin’s latest album for the sake of her autograph. There are only 4 words to describe the crowd- “people mountain people sea” (in chinese). Here are some of the photos we snapped.

The crowd.

Another shot.

I need to thank this uncle as LG and I did not need to squeeze between the crowds to see Jolin. (Notice his handy-cam).

Jolin on the stage. Sorry for the blur view as we were really far away from the stage…

Jolin again. Wondering why the photo became clearer? This is because LG was the one who snapped it. Is he working as paparazzi for part-time?

Jolin again…

Can you see the guy holding the mic? He is Jason, the new DJ of MyFM.

The autograph.

Recent updates...

I am just too lazy to type. Let’s see the photos.

Mrs. Kok’s (my mom) belacan. The best in KL and Kampar… *Hopefully my mom reads this and gives me more pocket money* =)

White Pecan Butter ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins for my sister’s 19th b’day, on 12th August. I planned to get her the ice-cream cake from Haagen Dazs at first. But due to the financial crisis, this is the only one I can afford… Yup, I know I still owe you (my sis) a b'day present.

An article from Guang Ming Daily. This is meaningful! Feel free to click on photo (to enlarge it) and read if you are free…
