I'm now officially in my study break!!! The end-of-semester-5 (EOS5) exam is from 13th Nov to 20th Nov... 6 papers in a row! I think i'm going to die soon...
Venue: CCM Pharmaceutical Sdn. Bhd, Bandar Baru Bangi. (Formerly known as UPHA Pharmaceutical Mfg. (M) Sdn. Bhd.)
Date: From 2nd Oct 2006 to 13th Oct 2006. Working Hours: 8am to 5.30pm from Monday to Friday.
It’s OVER! Finally!!!
Frankly speaking, I just hate working as I need to get up from my bed at 6am and prepare to work (everyday). In addition, it was such a huge distance all the way from Cheras to Bangi. You know what? Driving is tiring!!!
So what have I learned?
I guess my Malay language is getting better as KS and I have translated more than 100 SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedure) for them, just for the sake of NPCB (National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau) want to review it. Our main job was to translate SOP from day 1 to day 10. For this reason, we set up our own department – SOP-Translating Team!
We attended a seminar conducted by Madam Tan and Mr. Efendi. It was all about “Granulation” and “QC (Quality Control) and Sampling”.
I helped the “Filing Auntie” (that’s what I called her) to sort and to file all her documents that have been piled up since months ago. I have a sense of satisfaction as she missed me so much on the next day, most probably due to my high efficiency. He-he.
KS and I helped the QC lab technicians to conduct the QC tests on some samples of the finished products. We did weighing, disintegration test, and specific gravity test (Yup, I know it was boring!). KS felt very bad as she poured off some of the samples accidentally. Hmm… I guess the lab technician hates us! Ha-ha.
The food in canteen SUCKS!!! I’m not going to complain much as the lunch is FREE, as long as you take 1 meat and 1 vege ONLY. So what you can expect?
We attended a workshop on “Microbial Limit Test” conducted by Ms. KL, the microbiologist there. I learned something new!
Well, all the staffs there are really nice people. They are always ready to help us when we have any doubts, guiding us on doing our things, and sharing their knowledge and working experiences with us. After all, I have learned something new from this 2-week-attachement. =)
My appointment letter. CF and SY were placed in Production department, EL and ZY were placed in Regulatory Affairs department, KS and I were placed in QC department, CW was placed in Stability department, Jivan was placed in Validation department, and SY was placed in Compliance department.
The nine of us. Did you spot our “dress code”? (Khaki top & black bottom on the left, and black top & khaki bottom on the right). From left to right: SY, CW, WK, KS, ZY, CF, SY, Jivan and EL.
The office of SOP-Translating Team. KS- the manager, SY- the assistant manager, and I'm the executive!
The QC lab.
From left to right: Me, CW, ?, KS, Kui Ling (Microbiologist), Jivan, Sunil (QA Asst. Manager), Sing Haun (QC Sr. Exec), Mun Yee (Validation Asst Manager?), Hoey Ting (QA Sr. Exec), Pek Har (Stability Asst. Manager), Madam Tan (TSG Manager), Mr. Efendi (QC Manager).
Oh yup, I need to submit 2 log books on Monday. Got to finish it!!! Sigh…
Animal lovers, please feel free to sign the SPCA petition. Click HERE!
Please sign the SPCA petition. As you may be aware, the SPCA started a petition to the prime minster to raise the cruelty fine from RM200 to a significantly higher fine of around RM10,000.00. The petition, which included the signatures of supporters, was supposed to be handed to the prime minister in October 2004. However, this has not happened, as we only managed to raise 20,000 signatures. Due to the insufficient number of signatures collected during the first phase of this petition, the SPCA is entering a second phase in hope to collect at least 100,000 signatures locally and internationally.
Therefore, we are now entering a phase II stage of the petition whereby we would like you to join our effort for this cause. Please download the petition forms. Kindly photocopy it and distribute it for signatures to be collected. The more names we have, the better.
On behalf of the animals, thank you very much for your support.
Time flies, this week is the final week of semester 5. However, we will have an industrial attachment for 2 weeks after that, before the 4 weeks study break.
Monday (25 Sept)
We had a class test on Veterinary Pharmacy, and I submitted my practice exposure report. *much more relieved*
I went Mid Valley Megamall with IMU gang for window shopping and dinner. LG** was in dilemma as he did not know which hair-styling products are best-suited for him. We spent more than half-an-hour there just to choose the hair wax for him by comparing each product available. Haha, funny us!
Tuesday (26 Sept)
PSD session again! I was quite blur when showing one of the patients on how to use the NovoLet, and I guess I missed some important counseling points. 5 minutes is just not enough!
I missed "Fried Chicken Wings with Orange Sauce" so much...
Tasty... Thank my mom for that! =)
Wednesday (27 Sept)
The last PBL session! I presented a topic on “Pharmacological Management of Infertility”.
I cut my hair short. Really short! Well, it was my fault as i kept asking the hair stylist "Can you make it shorter?"
I went Bangsar’s Haagen Dazs with someone ;-) at night just to purchase the Haagen Dazs Ice-Cream Mooncakes (which costs around 300 bucks). And we got the 2* scoops of ice-cream for FREE, as the manager (I supposed he is) said we are loving couple* (huh?).
I skipped lectures just to do the medication review. My patient is taking 13 drugs, and I required to review, to find out the medication issues, and to initiate proper actions…
The last day of IMU Cup! I went IMU at night just because I was so desperate (I mean it!) to watch cheerleading competition (the last event of IMU Cup). Pharmacy has done a great job as we got the first place in cheerleading, and we are the first runner-up for IMU Cup! Hurray~ PHARMACY RULEZ!
The crowd: future doctors and pharmacists.
Medic, Sem 4 (or 2?). They got 3rd place in cheerleading.
Medic, Sem 1.
Pharmacy! We got the 1st place in cheerlading, and 1st runner-up for IMU Cup! I'll try to upload the cheerleading video in my blog. But i guess the file is too large?
Medic, Sem 2 (or 4?)
Medic, Sem 5. They got the 2nd place in cheerleading, and they are the champion for IMU Cup!
Someone (not me!) has a crush on someone in the photo. Have a guess?
Can you see the gal in black (left)? Well, we suspected her had taken some Ecstacy (MDMA) since she was experiencing euphoria and disinhibition from the begining till the end of the event. She screamed, shouted, jumped, runned, and even came on the stage even she was not the winner for a particular competition. No offences anyway...
Friday (29 Sept)
Submitted my medication review report (10 pages long), and went for the last lecture for this semester. Finally!
I went Pudu with IMU gang (CW was not going), had our dinner and watched a movie at Times Square after that. We watched The Devil Wears Prada, a nice movie to watch. Oh yup, I guess I should apologize to LG, YW**, and ZY as I chose the very first row. *paiseh*
We had a class test for Management for the Pharmacist. Yes, it is done finally!!! It was such a great torture to me for memorizing the business environment, entrepreneurship, business laws and acts, marketing, promotional mix and etc…
Had a PSD session in the afternoon, and I made mistakes again in the station for oral contraceptives. Small mistakes I guess? Sigh…
Tuesday (19th Sept)
I went IMU in the early morning for the CNS workshop on Affective Disorders. I was wondering why there are so many workshops in this semester… Yup, I learnt something today- neologisms, as experienced by ZY. haha.
I went out with Dan as he is quite familiar with Kajang area. Thanks for his time for showing me the way to go DF Pharmacy for which I supposed to have a community pharmacy attachment there, soon.
Wednesday (20th Sept)
We had a PBL session I the early morning and it was my turn to be the leader. Yes, I’m the leader! (but there was nothing great) =p
I guess Dr. Yiap was so pissed-off since most of us were late for the visit. I feel embarrass to tell that I was one of them. This was solely because Dr. Pillappan “hold” me (and 3 other girls) in his room for more than half an hour.
The destination for the visit was Charoen Pokphand Jaya Farm (M) Sdn. Bhd. (feedmill division). Instead of saying that it was a “visit”, I would rather define it as a “tutorial” since we stayed in the conference room for two and half hours for their PowerPoint presentations. Not to deny that they actually provided us with a lot of information, for us to write a report at a later time.
Thanks god, we managed to visit the quality control lab and the warehouse after the lengthy “tutorial”. We took a group photo and back to IMU at 5pm.
The quality control lab.
The warehouse.
Group photo.
Rushed back to IMU at night since my group needed to compile the management project. It was great to see everyone was rushing things together, I guess this is what we called as “teamwork”? haha. Hereby, I would like to thank HP and LG for their great efforts in the management project as they did most of it. How lucky I am for choosing the right “hosts” to allow a “parasite” (me) to survive.
Thursday (21st Sept)
CW and I had a community pharmacy attachment at DF Pharmacy, Kajang. There are 2 pharmacists there, Jeff and Annie. Annie looked quite fierce at first, but later we found out that she is a very friendly and knowledgeable pharmacist. Well, we did not do much things there except measuring the blood pressure for the customers, observing what the pharmacist and other staffs do, and talking non-stop with each other. Guess what? I got summon again as I did not realize we actually need to pay for the parking (by using the ticket machine). I just didn’t see it. Damn!
DF Pharmacy.
Wow, CW looks so professional...
Friday (22nd Sept)
Hurray, the last day of attachment! We spent whole day completing our log book there with the help of Annie. After that, CW and I went to taste the Kajang Satay as he was so desperate to have it in his mouth.
Flupenthixol, i guess LG should take this?
Wow, Suki won in ONE IN A MILLION contest! But too bad, I did not manage to watch the whole show as a friend of mine called me up for a drink with her.*
( I have asked her permission to publish this in my blog) Someone* (Hint: Hawaii, is that too obvious?) is now dating with a young guy. But later she found out this guy has two girlfriends. One of his girlfriends has another boyfriend too. Wow, complicated! But what may surprise you is that his girlfriend is very open-minded and she doesn’t mind if my friend wants to be that guy’s third girlfriend. Well, it did make my eyes and mouth opened WIDELY… Seriously!
