Billings Ovulation Method: Teacher Training Programme

Venue: Armada Hotel, PJ.
Date: 22nd Nov 2006 to 24th Nov 2006.
Training Hours: 9am to 5pm.

What the hell is that? In simpler words, if you or your female partner (if you are a guy) does not wish have babies without the use of condoms (and other contraceptive methods), then please read on.

Natural Family Planning is defined as “Methods of achieving or avoiding pregnancy by observing the natural signs and symptoms of the fertile and infertile phases of menstrual cycles in women”. There are many methods of doing so, such as calendar rhythm method, standard day method, basal body temperature method, Billings Ovulation Method (BOM), FAF-OM, Creighton model method, symptom-thermal method, 2-day method, technological approaches (PERSONA and CLEARPLAN), Marquette model method, and lactation-amenorrhea method. -Lecture notes, Reproductive System, Semester 5, BPharm (Hons)-

I highlighted BOM because it was what we have been trained on. For your information, BOM is very reliable comparing to other methods, with the success rate of more than 99% in avoiding pregnancies. Besides that, it also helped a lot of sub-fertile couples to achieve pregnancies ALL OVER THE WORLD… Great salute to Dr. John Billings and his wife- Dr. Evelyn Billings.

Well, we have been charting different women’s menstrual cycles in these 3 days, with variable length of cycles and also the pattern of discharge. For more information on BOM, please click HERE to proceed to Chi Fei’s blog. He has written a thorough overview on BOM. =)

Something worth to mention is that the food served was NICE!!! Everyday we will have a tea-break and breakfast in the morning, lunch buffet and another tea-break in the afternoon. I guess I can easily gain weight provided the programme last for 1 month. Ha-ha.

And finally, a big THANK to Mr. Matthew Chong.

A Trip to Genting.

I went Genting with IMU gang soon after the Community Pharmacy paper on Monday. The exam held from 1pm to 3pm, and we were all in Genting at 8pm. Yup, we were busy packing our stuffs that time… And there were around 30 people from my batch going Genting that day!

We got our room after a long discussion, and had our supper at Kenny Roger’s Roaster. It was followed by a trip to casino afterwards. YW showed great potential to be a gambler in the near future as he desperately wanted to stay in the casino, observing the surroundings, and trying to “derive” an all-win formula. ZY was the superstitious one as he believed in the “unseen”. A tip from him if you want to win big money: Step in the casino with your right leg first, and then walk a big round around the casino before you start to gamble. Not forgetting PH the pity one, as he is underage and could not enter the casino…

LG and I.

HP and ZY.

PH, Me, LG, ZY and YW.

Supermans?!

I experienced insomnia as I did not awake feeling refreshed on the next day. Thank to ZY and YW for the “on- and off-light” games, I guess my pineal gland is destructed somehow… We had breakfast buffet at First World Café on the next morning, checked-out, and then followed by a revisit to the casino. LG felt depressed somehow as no one wanted to check his IC (again!). Ha-ha. LG, you just look matured, I think it is a good thing though!

After the casino trip, HP, YW and I tried the Flying Coaster game. 12 bucks for one round, damn expensive but worth it, at least I had a try on it. We had our lunch at KFC while waiting for PH, who was in the theme park that time.

Can you spot us?

We got our stuffs and back to KL by bus at 8pm.

Hopefully it will be an end to EOS5 exam as I do not wish to re-sit for any papers. Well, I’m going to relax and enjoy my so-called holidays before the shocking news (results released) on 7th December.

Hopefully ALL of us able to make it, and there will be 58 of us in semester 6! *praying hard*

Happy Birthday to ME!

I officially turned into 22 years old on 12th November 2006. Shit, I can no longer self-claim myself as 21 years old anymore. How pathetic!

A BIG THANK to my family members and all my dear friends (you guys know who you are) for the surprises (it did surprise me! *feel so touched*), cakes, presents, b’day calls, and b’day wishes. I appreciate it SO MUCH…

A message for those who would like to buy me a b’day present: I DON’T mind to receive any belated b’day present(s)! Opps, I guess I sound too desperate. =)

Not forgetting to thank my CNS lecture notes & reference books, PBLs, and portfolios, for “accompanying” me for the whole night (and midnight)! Thank you, you better don’t show up yourself as C- and below in my result slip.

HAPPY BIRHTDAY TO ME!!! (mood-less-ly staring at my CNS notes)

My first b’day present- SE K800i, from my beloved DEAR friends. =)

Ang Pow from my parents + £115 ! (Why 115?)

Mont Blanc keychain from my sis.

I had my first b’day cake- a small piece of Tiramisu, in front of KLCC at 12am sharp! PJ gang forced me to go out, despite of I begging them to let me stay at home. Anyway thanks for it…

My second b’day cake- strawberry & passion fruit cake, from my dear family members. They waited for me to come back at around 1am just to celebrate with me. I love them so much! Try to notice the candle, it’s called “Lotus Candle”, quite weird but yet funny! Got music and mini fireworks somemore…

My third cake so far- Fruit Basket from Bread Story. =)
